Attended Paul IV High School in Fairfax, Va. where he was a two-time lacrosse and football team captain, named All-State twice, second-team All-WCAC selection, and attended National High School Showcase where he was named MVP. Ryan went on to play at UNC where he battled through four knee surgeries in three seasons. Those injuries allowed him to became a student of the game and O'Connor is regarded as one of the best teachers of the game in the area.
